چکیده

A 40-year-old Japanese woman developed malignant-phase hypertension complicated by thrombotic microangiopathy, progressing to end-stage renal disease. Five years later, she was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial and interstitial pneumonia. Despite a lack of overt skin sclerosis, nucleolar staining in our indirect immunofluorescence analysis nailfold capillaroscopy facilitated the diagnosis anti-PM/Scl antibody-positive systemic sclerosis. We observed persistent presence antibodies throughout clinical course, suggesting that her kidney disease scleroderma crisis. Anti-PM/Scl can be associated multiple organ diseases. Careful attention patient's antinuclear antibody pattern dermatological findings may help clarify etiology undiagnosed

Anti-transcription Intermediary Factor1γ-antibody-positive Dermatomyositis Complicated by Dysphagia

A man who was aged in his 80s was hospitalized in our department because of Gottron’s sign, muscle weakness and dysphagia. He was diagnosed with dermatomyositis (DM) based on the physical symptoms, muscle enzyme elevation and the results of electromyography. Immunoprecipitation for myositis-specific antibodies revealed bands of 140/155 kDa (Picture 1), which were compatible with anti-transcript...

Circulating adipokines and organ involvement in patients with systemic sclerosis.

BACKGROUND In recent years, mediators synthesized in the adipose tissue, the so-called adipokines, have been reported to play important roles in the pathogenesis of autoimmune rheumatic diseases. OBJECTIVE To compare serum leptin, adiponectin and resistin levels in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and healthy controls. To find possible relationship between serum levels of adipokines and...

Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody in systemic sclerosis.

OBJECTIVES To determine if anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibody titers can distinguish the overlap syndrome of systemic sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis (SSc-RA) in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and to investigate the clinical significance of anti-CCP antibodies in SSc. METHODS Serum levels of anti-CCP antibodies were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay i...

Anti-PM-Scl antibody in patients with systemic sclerosis.

OBJECTIVES To compare systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients with and without anti-PM-Scl antibody. METHODS We reviewed the medical records of 76 anti-PM-Scl antibody positive SSc patients and 2349 anti-PMScl negative SSc patients first evaluated during 1980-2004. Patients were included if they had a clinical diagnosis of SSc either alone or in overlap with another connective tissue disease. Anti-...
